Willow Hedge Spacing & Variety Guide

Willows form dense, pollinator-friendly windbreaks and erosion barriers!

For best results, create two staggered rows, 4ft apart. Within each row, plant each willow 2ft apart. You can do just one row, but it will take longer for the hedge to fill in.

Hedge Willow Varieties:

Showtime Willow

Showtime

Our most vigorous and popular willow, Showtime reaches about 12ft high and bursts into yellow flowers during late spring.

Winter Green

Not the most striking variety, Winter Green is tall and fast-growing. Intersperse a few throughout your hedge for the speedy growth and colorful stems.

Winter Glory

Reaching 10-15ft, Winter Glory is characterized by bright red flower buds and large, fluffy catkins.

Lemoine's

This willow is notable for its impressive display of fuzzy catkins and distinctively large, ruffled leaves. It’s also ideal for making baskets.
