Introducing two of our favorite root crops...

You know them as tropical crops...but we've been growing ginger & turmeric here at the Farm on Central in Ohio for years. We're excited to see more gardeners & small farmers growing these powerful immune support plants for themselves!

We provide both rhizomes and pre-sprouted plants, either grown on our farm or by one of our growing partners. Care instructions are included to help you get a full, healthy harvest.

  • Ginger & Turmeric Plant Sampler

Give these incredible root crops a try, but skip the sprouting process. This sampler comes with 3 small plants, ready to go into your containers or garden beds.

  • Turmeric Sampler

Explore not 1, but 4 different turmeric varieties! This beginner-friendly sampler contains rhizomes from some of our favorite turmeric varieties so you can try them all.

Should you buy rhizomes or plants?

As a general rule of thumb...

  • Choose rhizomes if you are looking for the most affordable option, have a long growing season (zones 7-9), and want to sprout your own plants.
  • Choose plants if you have a short growing season or simply want to skip the sprouting process (which can be tricky if you've never sprouted rhizomes before).

Rhizomes ship earlier (February-April) while plants ship later in the year (May-July).

Buying in bulk? We are sold out of seed ginger cases, but have red turmeric cases available here.

Do you need a greenhouse or high tunnel to grow ginger & turmeric?

It highly depends on your location. Here in Ohio, we grow our ginger & turmeric in unheated tunnels. Here's what we recommend based on your growing zone:

👉Grow outdoors in zones 8 or 9, maybe 7.

👉Grow in unheated tunnels in zones 5 and 6. (For gardeners, simply grow your plants in containers so you can bring them inside in the winter.)

👉Grow in heated tunnels for zones 4 and colder.
