What’s Included

  • 12 Plugs: 3 plants each of Galletta, Chandler, Malwina, and Ruby June, shipped mid-September for fall planting.
  • Galletta: Earliest harvests of large, sweet berries to kick off your season.
  • Ruby June: Early to mid-season, firm, sweet berries with excellent rain resistance for reliable yields.
  • Chandler: Midseason, high-yielding with juicy, flavorful fruit. One of the Oldest and easiest berries to grow.
  • Malwina: latest variety, with dark red, delicious berries to extend your harvest.

Why Choose This Bundle?

  • Extended Harvest: Staggered fruiting from early to late summer ensures weeks of fresh strawberries.
  • Cold-Hardy: Thrives in Zones 4–7, perfect for regions with cold winters.
  • Organic-Friendly: Disease-resistant varieties support organic growing with minimal inputs.
  • Versatile: Ideal for home gardens, U-Pick, or local markets.

Planting & Spacing

  • When to Plant: Plant plugs in September for fall establishment, ensuring strong roots before winter.
  • Spacing: Plant 12-18 inches apart in double rows 24 inches apart to allow for  good air circulation. Use raised beds for better drainage in heavy soils.

Care Tips

  • Soil: Plant in well-drained, slightly acidic soil (pH 5.5–6.8). Adjust high-pH soils with sulfur if needed.
  • Watering: Provide 1–1.5 inches of water weekly via drip irrigation to keep foliage dry and prevent fungal issues.
  • Fertilizer: Apply a balanced organic fertilizer (e.g., 1-2-1 NPK) at planting. We will include fertilization recommendations.
  • Winter Protection: After the first frost, apply 4–6 inches of straw mulch to protect crowns in Zones 4–5 or use rowcover to protect them. Remove in spring but keep some mulch for weed control.
  • Pest Control: Strawberries are relatively pest free other than slugs.

Shipping

  • Ships Early to Mid-September: Your 12 plugs will arrive ready for fall planting, ensuring a head start for next summer’s harvest.

Start your organic strawberry garden with this Northern Bundle and enjoy a season full of delicious, homegrown berries!
