Turmeric Varieties
- Green turmeric, sometimes called wild turmeric, has pale green to yellowish rhizomes with a mild, aromatic flavor and is used in cosmetics, medicines, and culinary dishes.
- Black turmeric is a rare variety traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine. When cut open, the rhizomes are usually a dark blue color with an earthy, slightly camphor-like scent.
-
Florida red is prized for its deep red interior, exceptionally high curcumin content, bold earthy flavor, and superior medicinal potency.
- Alabama Wild is the toughest, most resilient turmeric we grow. It's a strain of red turmeric and, like the Florida red, has high curcumin levels.
- Blue/violet turmeric is slightly larger than black turmeric, and the rhizomes are generally a lighter blue. It is very similar to black turmeric and sometimes used interchangeably.
