Variety

Kick off your garden with our premium onion plants, ready to plant. Available in four standout varieties, these healthy starts are ready to plant now and promise a delicious harvest. Whether you’re a seasoned grower or a beginner, these onions will elevate your garden game.

Varieties Available (Bunch Size):
We offer our onion plants in generous bunches—each containing approximately 40-50 plants, depending on variety and size at harvest.  Each bunch will plant around 25 ft of row. Perfect for planting a robust row or sharing with fellow gardeners!

  • Ailsa Craig: A classic heirloom known for its mild, sweet flavor and impressive size—perfect for fresh eating or cooking.
  • Walla Walla: The famous sweet onion with juicy, crisp flesh, ideal for salads, grilling, or enjoying raw.
  • Patterson: A reliable, long-storing yellow onion with a balanced flavor, great for soups, stews, and storage through the winter.
  • Redwing: A striking red onion with a robust, slightly spicy taste, excellent for adding color and zest to any dish.

Onion Plants vs. Onion Sets – What’s the Difference?
Unlike onion sets (small, dormant bulbs), our onion plants are young, live plants with developed roots and green tops—ready to take off as soon as they’re in the ground. Plants offer faster growth, better adaptability to your local conditions, and a lower risk of bolting (premature flowering) compared to sets. Plus, you get the exact varieties you want, not just what’s available in bulb form!

Planting & Care Tips:

  • When to Plant: These plants are ready to go in the ground now—spring is the perfect time for onions!
  • Spacing: Plant 4-6 inches apart in rows spaced 12-18 inches apart to give them room to bulb up.
  • Soil: Choose well-drained soil with plenty of organic matter for best results.
  • Sunlight: Full sun (6-8 hours daily) keeps them happy and growing strong.
  • Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged—about 1 inch of water per week does the trick.
  • Harvest: Ready in 90-120 days, depending on variety and growing conditions.
