Garlic & Onion Combo Kit

Plant garlic and onions this fall, and enjoy harvesting the bulbs next summer! This combo kit contains hardneck seed garlic and onion sets, so you can get them both in the ground together.

What's Included:

• Hardneck Garlic: Try three different hardneck varieties: Music, Jachlo, and Norquay. All three are cold hardy, produce scapes in the spring, and promise bold flavor. Music and Norquay are Porcelain hardnecks, while Jachlo is a purple stripe type.
• Shakespeare Onions: These are a proven performer for both overwintering and spring planting. Similar to Forum onions, Shakespeare is a robust variety producing high yields of round bulbs with tight, brown skin - great for storing.

Sampler Sizes:

• Small: 3 heads of Music, 3 heads of Jachlo, 3 heads of Norquay and 50 onion sets.
• Large: 1# of Music, 1# of Jachlo, 1# of Norquay, and 100 onion sets.

(1# of garlic will plant 20-30 ft of bed spaced at 8" apart. 1 head will plant 4-6 ft.)

Features:

• Beat the Bugs and Disease: Like Forum, Shakespeare onion sets get a significant head start over spring-planted onions. In zone 6A, we begin harvesting full-size, disease-free bulbs in June.

• Versatile Planting: Suitable for both fall and spring. They overwinter well for early harvests, or can be planted in spring as tender “green top” onions for cooking.

• Size & Quantity: Small, dry, immature onion bulbs grown the previous season, typically 14–17mm in size with approximately 110–130 sets per pound.

• Short-Term Storage: While not a long-storage onion, they’ll keep several months if stored in a cool, dry place.

Learn about the garlic in the kit:

1. Music Garlic: This Italian native, brought to North American grounds by Canadian farmer Al Music in the 1980s, sings with a full-bodied flavor. Celebrated for its cold-hardiness and generous cloves, the Music Garlic has played a beautiful tune in our gardens for over a decade.

2. Norquay: If you grew German White with us last year, Norquay is the closest thing to it in our 2026 selection. You can expect the same Porcelain type with large, easy-to-peel cloves and bold flavor.

3. Jachlo: Jachlo is a Purple Stripe hardneck garlic with Eastern European origins, and it's one of the more visually striking varieties you'll find. The bulb wrappers show vivid purple streaking that makes it stand out in the garden and at the market. Flavor-wise, Purple Stripe varieties are widely regarded as some of the best-tasting garlic you can grow, particularly for roasting.
