Many gardeners wait to fertilize in the spring, then wonder why their bulbs are small when they dig them up in the summer. Whereas our organic Garlic & Onion Fertilizer Blend is designed to be worked into the soil when fall planting, so your plants have plenty of nutrients available from the get-go.
What's in it:
- Slow-release nitrogen—Feeds steadily throughout the fall without pushing too much growth ahead of a freeze
- Key minerals—Phosphorus, potassium, sulfur (the reason why onions make you cry and garlic smells pungent), and the other key minerals garlic & onions love
- Biochar—Increases soil water and nutrient retention, preventing nutrient loss
- Humates—Also boost nutrient retention and micronutrient availability, and improve soil structure
- Kelp meal— Supplies trace elements and natural growth hormones to enhance bulb flavor, size, and plant resilience against stress.
All of the ingredients are certified organic.
How to use it:
Work into the bed at planting, typically October–November. If you are interplanting strawberries and garlic you may need to work it in a little bit earlier when you plant the strawberries (September-October).
Note: This blend does not replace the need for spring fertilizing. It gives your plants a stronger foundation from the start, but you may still need to add nitrogen in the spring to get the bulb size you want.
