Snowbank Blackberry is a unique and eye-catching blackberry variety...because it isn't black! It still has the classic blackberry flavor, but the berries are creamy white to pale pink.

It’s a great conversation-starter plant that still earns its place in the garden with dependable yields and hardy growth. Snowbank is a floricane-fruiting variety, producing fruit on second-year canes, and it’s well suited for backyard growers and homesteaders who want something a little different without extra fuss.

Plants start shipping in spring after danger of freezing and will come in robust 2" plugs.

Why Grow Snowbank Blackberry?

Truly Unique Fruit
White berries are rare in the berry world and make fresh eating, desserts, and preserves extra fun. If you grow for profit, these berries will definitely catch your customers' attention.

Classic Blackberry Flavor
Despite the unusual color, the flavor is mild, sweet, and familiar—great fresh or preserved just like any other blackberry.

Hardy & Productive
A vigorous, cold-hardy plant that produces reliable harvests once established.

Cultivation Tips

  • Soil requirements: Prefers well-drained, fertile soil with plenty of organic matter. Avoid soggy areas to prevent root issues.
  • Sunlight: Full sun (6–8+ hours per day) for best fruit size and sweetness.
  • Watering: Water regularly, especially during flowering and fruiting. Consistent moisture helps prevent small or dry berries.
  • Harvesting: Berries are ready when they turn creamy white with a slight pink blush and pull easily from the plant. Harvest every few days during peak season.
  • Pruning: After harvest, remove spent second-year (floricane) canes at ground level. In late winter, thin and tidy first-year canes to keep the patch manageable.
  • Trellising: Although not required, trellising helps keep canes upright, improves airflow, and makes harvesting easier.

Snowbank blackberry has thorny canes, so gloves are recommended. Like most blackberries, plants spread over time—great for building a productive berry row, but make sure to allow space for spreading.
