Sunflower is known for its robust root system and its ability to scavenge nutrients that other covers may not be able to access as easily. Sunflowers also are good for Mycorizal Fungi growth. The grand blooms attract many beneficial insects and can lead to excellent honey production nearby. With their strong upright stalk, sunflowers also provide support for climbing cover crop plants to support their own growth by working their way up to reach sunlight.
